At Harvey Road School, we take great pride in our Music learning as it is a vital part of what we do at the school.
We believe that Music is a unique way of communicating to others as well as expressing your own feelings which can inspire and motivate our pupils. Music is a vehicle for personal expression, and it can play an important part in personal development, transforming a young persons life. At Harvey Road, our broad and progressive music curriculum reflects the culture and society we live in as well as our interests.
The teaching and learning of music enables children to better understand the world they inhabit. Music is a wonderfully creative and enjoyable activity. It can also be a highly academic and demanding subject. We provide purposeful opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music, to develop the skills, to appreciate a wide variety of musical forms, and to begin to make judgments about the quality of music.
The Music Action Plan below sets out our intentions for 2024-2025 which puts music at the heart of school improvement.
