School Council
Our school council is a democratically elected group of children from year 1 to 6 who are actively involved in the school's development.
Every year children learn about Parliament in the UK and produce manifestos before a secret ballot takes place.
The elected candidates are then presented with their school council badge in assembly by the Chair of Three Rivers District Council.
Meeting regularly, children plan fundraising events, agree which charities we will sponsor through the year and present suggestions from their classes for school improvements.
Every classroom has a suggestion box where all children can put forward their ideas about how we can make our school even better. The school council then discuss these and if necessary take them to the appropriate member of staff. They then report back to their classes.
Previous projects have included the SOS campaign (save our swimming pool) where the school council raised in excess of £6000 towards upgrading our swimming pool. To achieve this goal they held a cake sale, a school disco, a pyjama day and made a presentation of their campaign to the local parish council at their council offices who subsequently them with awarded a £5000 grant!
Our school council participate in termly friendship and anti-bullying initiatives. They have written a leaflet for children about bullying explaining what to do if there is a problem.
