OfSTED came to Harvey Road Primary school in the academic year 2023-2024.  The outcome of this inspection was that our school was judged as follows:

Statements in the OfSTED report includes:

• Harvey Road is an exciting place to learn. Children develop curiosity and a keenness to learn in the early years.  This continues to develop as they get older
• There is a strong emphasis on checking and supporting pupil’s social, emotional and mental emotional well-being
• Staff work together to adapt lessons and resources for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities
• Teaching in the early years is also highly effective
• A focus on positive behaviour permeates the school, right from the start
• Parents speak highly about this caring school
• [Staff] feel valued and work hard for the community they serve
• Pupils learn an ambitious curriculum that enables them to achieve highly
• The arrangements for safeguarding are effective

We are clearly delighted with this outcome as we feel that it accurately reflects the school, the children and the staff and governors.  The outcome recognises the exceptional practice of the school team as a whole as well as the time and effort we have invested in ensuring ongoing school improvement since our last inspection in 2011.  It also recognises the efforts and successes of our pupils, whose embodiment of our school motto ‘be happy, show respect, seek success’ is very evident in the inspection report.

This wonderful outcome is also testament to the strong, supportive and essential partnership between staff and parents.  This partnership is evidenced not only through the commitment of our Parent Teachers Association (PTA) but even more importantly, through the daily contact parents have with staff along with the consistent support parents give their children at home. 

Our ongoing challenge now is to continue to improve.  We recognise that we are can never sit still and we continue to be on a journey to become an even better school.  Our goal remains to enable children, through the provision of a challenging and nurturing school experience, to become lifelong learners and achieve the best they can.
